The Importance of Giving Back

When we’re fortunate enough to have a healthy family, a successful career, and a comfortable home, I believe it becomes our duty to give back to the community. Since the beginning of 2025, I’ve personally committed to donating 6% of my gross income to organizations working near my home, in Quebec and Ontario.

I’m privileged to facilitate transactions for prestigious homes through a globally recognized real estate agency, E&V, but I never forget the region where I grew up, the Outaouais. Now that I’m a father, I’m even more aware of the impact local organizations have on the lives of underprivileged families.

Below are the organizations I’ve chosen to support by giving each of them 1% of my gross income this year.

  1. Centraide Outaouais
  2. Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie
  3. Olympiques Spéciaux Québec
  4. SPCA Outaouais
  5. Organizations in Ontario

Since 2021, I’ve been supporting Centraide Outaouais’ Snow Suits campaign because every child deserves a warm and comfortable winter. As a new father, I see firsthand how a good snowsuit lets kids enjoy the outdoors without worry. Playing in the snow is a joy every child should experience, and I’m grateful to Centraide Outaouais for their concrete support to families in need.

In 2025, I also donated $3,000 to Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie, named in honor of the young boy who passed away from cancer at only 13 years old. This palliative care home has been meeting a growing need in the Outaouais region since 1999. By providing dignified end-of-life support, Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie makes a tremendous difference for families in the community.

I enjoy supporting the Gatineau chapter of Special Olympics Québec, as this initiative expands access to sports for people living with intellectual disabilities. Each of their activities takes place in a friendly and welcoming environment. It’s truly uplifting to know that this organization exists and brings so much joy through sport.

In 2025, I donated $2,540 to the Outaouais SPCA because the well‑being of companion animals is something that truly matters to me. It’s also a cause my daughter is especially sensitive to. I explained to her that we can’t adopt all these animals, but if we can support the SPCA’s mission financially, that will be our way of helping.

My work as a real estate broker often brings me across the Ottawa River into Ontario. I’d like to donate a percentage of the income I earn in that province to three Ontario organizations that make a real difference in the greater Ottawa area. If you have any suggestions, feel free to write to me at [email protected]

By sharing my charitable actions, my goal isn’t to boast but to inspire my colleagues in the real estate industry to do the same. Our profession moves through economic cycles alongside our clients — sometimes sales are strong, other times they slow down. I encourage all real estate brokers who experience periods of abundance to be generous and give back to the organizations that support their communities.
